As we enter the New Year, more and more energy companies are announcing price increases, making it increasingly difficult to fend off the icy weather. Homeowners are always on the lookout for ways to cut the price of their energy bill, which is where free solar PV company HomeSun comes in.

Recent research conducted by the Solar Power Portal, on behalf of the REA Solar Power Group, shows that the introduction of the feed-in tariff has significantly increased the amount of ‘green’ jobs in the UK.

Dresden, Germany-based solar module manufacturer Solarwatt has been awarded certification for its solar modules meeting microgeneration certification scheme (MCS) standards. This accreditation enables the company’s British customers to benefit from the country’s currently generous feed-in tariff.

Inventux Technologies has received verification from British inspectors at BE Global that its micromorph thin-film solar modules have achieved Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) recognition. The certificate is necessary in order for solar modules to receive the feed-in tariff payments in the UK.

Engensa recently installed the UK’s first micro-converter, a new technology that enables millions of otherwise unsuitable roofs to be used for solar PV by eliminating many of the problems associated with shading. The inverter was manufactured by SolarEdge, an Israeli-based leader in PV power optimization.

Vogt Solar has now officially submitted plans for the 5MW solar plant to be constructed on land to the north of Bourn, Cambridgeshire. The District Council will now process the intended project, which could power up to 1,200 homes. The farm, which would be over 38 acres of land, with a third of the land being covered by solar panels, was originally announced at the end of last year.

Plans are now on display for a 5MW solar farm to be constructed on the outskirts of Swindon. Local residents and farmers met at the Roves Farm Visitor Centre, Sevenhampton, to find out more about the £12m project, and its effect on the area.
