East Riding Council has selected Redland’s roof-integrated Mini Stonewold Solar tile for its latest social housing scheme. Initially 100 houses will be fitted with the technology, while a further 231 across 33 sites are waiting in the pipeline.

UK-based timber and builders merchant Covers has signed an agreement with Azur Solar Systems, which will install solar photovoltaics on as many of its 12 sites as are suitable. With branches located in Chichester, Bognor, Portsmouth and Brighton the company hopes to meet a significant portion of its own energy needs.

Aimed at the 1,406 companies within its network of Qualified Installers around the world, Proinso has formed the Proinso Solar Training School in partnership with experienced solar training centres in Italy, Greece and the UK.

Adding to the rising number of community energy projects in the UK, Nayland Primary School has unveiled its 15.54kW solar installation in Suffolk. Made possible by the Green Energy Nayland scheme, the school will now benefit from free electricity and bill savings for over 25 years.

This morning the pupils of Hinchley Wood School had more than SATs to get out of bed for. Congratulating the ‘Green Flag’ school on its environmental initiative; impressionist, environmentalist and solar power advocate Alistair McGowan travelled to Surrey to open the brand new solar installation, which is one of the largest in the UK.
